Caring for kidlets...

2009 has brought with it some interesting changes. Actually, since the Jewish New Year in the fall, God has been on the move in my life in so many ways! We've truly entered a new season of revelation and favor, and I'm amazed by all the things I'm seeing.

My spirit soars when He wakes me up in the middle of the night, although my flesh has a hard time being obedient. In fact, if I hadn't just been told that I needed to update my blog, I'd be hitting the shower and getting ready for bed, even though it's not even 8:30 yet!

Among the topics I've been meditating, the heritage of children seems to be the common thread. Literally, since 2005, I've been praying some particular scriptures about children, including my own. I've had some rhema words from the Lord on how to stand for answered prayers concerning children, and I can tell you that these prayers get answered.

We have to have the promises of God for ourselves. Each of us must OWN the promises and know they were confirmed to us - meaning that we must know the Holy Spirit drew our attention to particular scriptures and made them come alive in our hearts, just to minister to our situations. (Now, when I say "our" situations, I mean prayer assignments, whether they be our children, or someone else's children, grown or still a child.)

Praying the Word is the only thing that works.

Let me say that again... PRAYING THE WORD IS THE ONLY THING THAT WORKS.

Abraham didn't use Eve's promise from God to believe for Isaac to be conceived. He got his own promise. He believed what God spoke to him. He repeated (spoke outloud) what God spoke to him. He prayed it back to God.

It was the same with Mary, the mother of Jesus. She got rhema word for her situation. She was convinced God had spoken those words to her, and the scripture says she contemplated those things in her heart.

What is your rhema word concerning your problems or prayer assignments? Concerning your children, your finances or your health?

Some scriptures I stand on for my children are:
Acts 16:31 Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved, you and your household.

Isaiah 49:25-26 But this is what the LORD says: "Yes, captives will be taken from warriors, and plunder retrieved from the fierce; I will contend with those who contend with you, and your children I will save. 26 I will make your oppressors eat their own flesh; they will be drunk on their own blood, as with wine. Then all mankind will know that I, the LORD, am your Savior, your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob."

and the Ephesians prayers in Chapters 1 & 3. I insert my children's names in the prayers, and pray them straight out of the Bible.

I'm not afraid to say that the Isaiah prayer has been a favorite of mine, especially in the last few years. It brings such comfort to my heart. God will deal with those who fight against His plan for my children. I love that. No need for me to involved, because He's doing it. I just need to watch and pray.

Recently, I've been wrestling with some prayer assignments that could be completely devestating. I've seen teens who have been drawn into terrible situations, and are now paying the consequences of their decisions. Drug addiction, alcoholism, poverty, prison, rape, and robbery are just a few of the things happening right here in the lives of those I love. It's heartbreaking.

I remember a time in my own life when I could do nothing but cry. I was in the pit. Things I had prayed for and worked for literally crumbled right before my eyes. It was a terrible time. Because of what I've been through, I have compassion on those parents who are now facing the problems I mentioned above. They are some of my closest friends and family.

And, I have pity for the children, struggling to figure out how they find themselves in these positions, even though most of the issues are the consequences of their own choices.

Satan truly tries to blind the eyes of our understanding. But, all he can do is try, because, through prayer, God will reveal to each man his own sin, and nothing done in secret will stay there. Everything will be brought into the open, and every man will give account.

And when God begins to answer, you'll know it. You'll see His hand at work, and you'll know it's Him. And, you heart will rejoice.

Psalm 43:5 Why are you cast down, O my soul? and why are you disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

Cling to Him!
