Holland Hall BookFair This Saturday!

Thanks to Shelly for sending me the tip about this great bookfair!

From the Holland Hall Website:
The 50th Anniversary Holland Hall Book Fair will be Saturday, Feb. 27, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This Holland Hall tradition attracts thousands from Tulsa and the surrounding region. It features tens of thousands of used books with a huge selection of rare books, children’s books, games, puzzles, stuffed animals, CDs, videos and DVDs.

The fair will be in the Middle School building on the Holland Hall campus at 5666 E. 81st Street, between Yale and Sheridan. Admission is $1 per person.

Preparations for the Book Fair are ongoing throughout the year, with volunteers spending long hours sorting, labeling and pricing items for the sale. Over 200 volunteers are on hand the day of the event to assist with sales.

For more information about the Book Fair, please call 918-481-1111 or visit www.hollandhall.org/bookfair.

My Note:  If you never been to this sale, you don't know what you're missing.  I've gathered many bargains here over the years, including Pampered Chef Stoneware pans for $0.10 each!  I also found American Girl clothing that I purchased for under $5 and resold for $60.  It's a really great sale.

Millstone Coffee Deal

On Kenosha has their Millstone Holiday Coffee blends on sale for $4.99 a 12 oz. bag, and there are $1/1 peelie coupons on the bag as well.  They had several flavors including Holiday Peppermint, Gingerbread Cinnamon, and others.

If you need coffee, this is probably a decent price.  Not a stockpile price, but not full price either, since they are flavored coffees and usually sell for around $8.00 a bag.

It's the most wonderful time of the year???

I'll be busy helping out with final preparations for our friend's wedding, so this will be my last post until Monday, and I have several things to share!  First, congratulations to Kevin & Chrystal!

Here's the happy couple freezing outside the BOK the other night when we went ice skating outdoors.  Funny to think that next week they'll be lying on the beach in the Caribbean while I'm still here amidst the ice and snow!

But alas, I regress.  On to the sales.

We hit Woodland Hills Mall today and there were bargains to be had just about everywhere!

Bath & Body's Semi-Annual sale is going on.  Look online because there are probably coupons to combine with the sale prices (up to 75% off...).  This could make for some fantastic deals.  Of course, there is no more Twisted Peppermint, so I'm not too happy.

JCPenney's has MANY racks of dresses marked down 70% off original prices.  I purchase a $90 dress for just over $20 today.  It's what I'll be wearing to the wedding, and I was happy I waited until the last minute to look.  They had a very good selection in most sizes.  Penney's also had lots of shoes on clearance, including boots, so if you need those, go early for the best selection.

One more store we shopped was New York & Company.  They had lots of 40% and 60% off, plus BOGO.5 sales.  We purchased some cute teen stuff here, which is top secret until after the wedding. Sshhh!

In other exciting news, I've been told by Princess Amy from 918CouponQueen's site, that CountryMart is now doubling coupons up to, but not including $1.00.  So, if you have a $0.75 coupon, I'm told it doubles.  I haven't tried it for myself, and probably won't be albe to until next week, so if anyone confirms this is true in Coweta, please let me know and I will post it here.

Since I'm so busy, I'm not doing the coupon match-ups this week for CountryMart, but here's the link for 918's match-up page.

And finally, Coweta Walmart has marked down their Christmas to 75% off or more, and I found some really great deals for things like bells to use on the wedding reception tables.  HobbyLobby is also doing their Bridal Event this week, with 50% off on all their Bridal/Wedding supplies.  This includes the pillow mints that we all use for wedding or baby showers, so if you are planning any type of an event that uses these, now is probably the time to buy them!

Happy Shopping!

Card Sale at Coweta Walmart

From my friend, Jaime:
"Hey, saw something I have never seen before tonight. Wal-Mart in Coweta has cards on sale. I got those music/talking cards that are generally $5 for $2. Also, several of their other nice cards are $1 and they had any occasion you would ever need. Just FYI."
Thanks, Jaime!

Some Changes To My Blogroll

One of the
best things about blogging is finding great mentors and inspiration for homekeeping.  I just love the fact that any time of the day or night, I can access the wisdom of women who are doing some fantastic things at home!

One of my recent finds, which I consider a treasure, is Jessica at Good(&Cheap)Eats.  This blog is filled with delicious recipes, tempting pictures, and sound homekeeping advice, especially for those of us who struggle to serve a varied menu.  Be sure to check out this blog in my new Bargain Blogroll list to the right.

I've also added Jessica's FishMama blog, which features great deals similar to MoneySavingMom, who has a great deal on Ivory posted right now .  (Nevermind, it sure seems like Alice.com is doing a bait and switch on their products)!

And, Erin over at JANE4girls has added new blog content to include bargains outside the grocery store, so be sure and keep up with her new content as well.  It's going to be a fabulous money saving year!

Walgreens Deals

I found two great deals at Walgreens today.

First, if you can locate the Walgreens Healthy Savings (Save $160) coupon book that is good for the month of November, there is a coupon for $1/1 85 count Kleenex Ultra Soft.  That same product is on sale this week for $1.09, making each box $0.09 plus tax!  That's the best coupon deal I've ever found for Kleenex.  The coupon book features a woman and two children on the cover.  I had to ask a manager to locate one, but it was worth it!

The other deal is on Noxzema Spa Shave 4-blade razors which are on sale this week for $1.99/3.  There are $2/1 peelies on some of the packages, and to make it even better, some of the packages are BOGO bonus packs, so you get 6 free razors instead of three!  Not all the packages have peelies, and not all are bonus packs, so be sure and look closely to find this "hidden" deal!

Happy shopping!

The Gospel

Ask and you shall receive that your joy may be full!

24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. (John 16:24, New King James Version)

Yesterday I posted my Finishing List for 2009 and one line item was to purchase two chairs for the living room.  This would be the THIRD set of chairs I have purchased, but I made a profit on the sale of the other sets, so I'm not feeling too bad about the whole fiasco.  Yes, buying and selling chairs is a fiasco, and I don't want to do it for a living!

Still, I'm not complaining because I made a profit each time, and I am now the owner of the chairs from this ad:              Two (2) Chairs...Must Sell...Make Offer - $40 (West Tulsa)

Here are the pictures at their house, and I'll take some in my house and post them in my next post...

I know they look a little like "what were you thinking" chairs, but really, THEY WORK WITH MY SOFA!  I've had the hardest time finding something tall enough, with the right tone of green to match this yellow/green Lane Westwood Stationary Sofa I purchased a while back.

Now we have a nice little family of married furniture, all from Craigslist, and all for under $275 if you count the profit I made from the other chairs!  Amazing, isn't it?  I heart Craigslist!

All the woodwork in the living room will be changing to Espresso, I believe, so that's what I'll be on the lookout for next! ;-)

Freebies for Friday!

Here's a link for a free meal planning ebook to go along with the Ziploc deal from Reasors!

If you were able to find the specially marked (with a TMF yellow sticker) Pert Plus for Men at Walgreens this week, you can get a MIR form for up to $3.99 by clicking here.  I haven't found these yet, but I'm still looking!  This makes Pert a moneymaker at Walgreens this week!

Proverbs 21:20 (New Living Translation)

20 The wise have wealth and luxury,  but fools spend whatever they get.

GreenWorks Deal at Lowe's

I finally made it to Lowe's to pick up my Green Works laundry detergent.  I chose to purchase it there because they are running a promotion until October 31 for a free GW laundry stain remover WYB the laundry soap.

I wasn't sure that Lowe's took manufacturer's coupons, so I checked with the manager at the BA Lowe's.  Kelli verified that they just started taking MQs, but the cashier said they didn't take manufacturer's coupons, so if you have a problem, be sure to have them call a manager.  They do take them, so stand your ground!

The MQ can be found here, and there is a money back guarantee if you are not completely satisfied.  The price is $14.98 for 90 oz. which is 60 loads.  The $3 coupon brings the price to about $0.20 cents per load, and if you choose to take advantage of the money back promotion, then the final cost is free!

Edited to add:  I do feel comfortable using the money back guarantee in this particular case. Here's why: Figuring the cost per ounce of this detergent, versus comparable soaps, this detergent is overpriced. That's the reason I listed on the form. They stated in the promotion that it could be refunded for any reason, not just cleaning. They even asked on the form if it was for cleaning reasons, or for some other reason. The whole idea of the MBG is to get customer feedback, so it's a win~win. That's my definition of a good deal (stolen from Dave Ramsey) ~ if we both win.

Reasor's Ziploc Deal

I read on Kroger's forum that there's a Catalina deal on Ziploc bags:  Buy 3, Get $2 OYNO (on your next order).  This deal expires on 11-7-09, so you have a little time to find coupons and wait for a sale.

I also just confirmed on another blog that Reasor's had the expandable bottom bags on display with coupons and they worked for the Catalina.  So, if you need bags, this might be the time to get them.  I have read that the following bags worked, but I have not confirmed this myself:

Evolve
Freezer
Snack
Expandable Bottom

If you have a Catalina left after the Pillsbury deal, you might consider rolling that into the Ziploc deal (using one catalina to generate another is called rolling).  There's also a mail in rebate for Ziplocs that you can print here, so the deal could end up being a money maker!

Just a tip:  Rolling works at Reasor's but does not work at Walgreens!

Tug Binders at Office Depot

One of my faithful readers, Judy, just called to say that the Office Depot in Tulsa has clearanced their Tug brand binders to $3.75.  Although I haven't seen them, these sound like they may be suitable for coupon binders.  They are on an endcap, so you'll have to check around but that had plenty as of this morning.

Thanks, Judy!
