The Gospel ~ dunamis

9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (2 Corinthians 12:9, New King James Version)

The Gospel ~ dunamis

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. (Romans 1:16, New King James Version)

The Gospel

3Praised (honored, blessed) be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah)! By His boundless mercy we have been born again to an ever-living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

4[Born anew] into an inheritance which is beyond the reach of change and decay [imperishable], unsullied and unfading, reserved in heaven for you,

5Who are being guarded (garrisoned) by God's power through [your] faith [till you fully inherit that [c]final] salvation that is ready to be revealed [for you] in the last time.

6[You should] be exceedingly glad on this account, though now for a little while you may be distressed by trials and suffer temptations,

7So that [the genuineness] of your faith may be tested, [your faith] which is infinitely more precious than the perishable gold which is tested and purified by fire. [This proving of your faith is intended] to redound to [your] praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) is revealed.

The Gospel

We've been struggling against sickness, and nurse mom has been busy comforting, teaching, and serving ~ thus, no blogging!  Priorities, right?

We believe that physical divine healing is a gift from God that was purchased through the sacrifice of Jesus.  We're standing on His Word, and here are some of the tools we use to help us remember the Promises.

Our favorite healing cd is Covered By The Blood, by Billy Joe and Sharon Daugherty.  I don't know what we would have done over the years without this wonderful reminder of God's Word.

My favorite healing MP3 is from Andrew Wommack Ministries.  It is available as a free download from this link.  I just loaded this on my iTouch, and listen to it at night when I'm falling asleep.

Several years ago Keith Moore's Healing In His Wings cd came across my path.  I love this cd, and it also is available free online at this link.

1 Peter 2:24 (New International Version)

24  He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.

The Gospel

Isaiah 64:4 (New International Version)

4 Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived,
no eye has seen any God besides You, who acts on behalf of those who wait for Him.

The Gospel

Psalm 78:4-8 (New Living Translation)

4 We will not hide these truths from our children;
we will tell the next generation
about the glorious deeds of the Lord,
about his power and his mighty wonders.
5 For he issued his laws to Jacob;
he gave his instructions to Israel.
He commanded our ancestors
to teach them to their children,
6 so the next generation might know them—
even the children not yet born—
and they in turn will teach their own children.
7 So each generation should set its hope anew on God,
not forgetting his glorious miracles
and obeying his commands.
8 Then they will not be like their grandparents—
stubborn, rebellious, and unfaithful,
refusing to give their hearts to God.

The Gospel

We are righteous ONLY through faith in His blood.

19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law. 29 Or is He the God of the Jews only? Is He not also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also, 30 since there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith. 31 Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law. (Romans 3:19-31, New King James Version)

"God has presented Him (Jesus) as a sacrifice of atonement through faith in His blood." Romans 3:25

Need POWER in your prayers? Apply the blood of Jesus. Make much of the blood. We are nothing; He is everything. We are justified (JUST as IF I'ED never sinned) by the blood ALONE, NOT BY OUR GOOD WORKS. We do good works to show our love to God for His great gifts, beginning with salvation.

The Gospel

22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. (Mark 11:22-24, New King James Version)

The Gospel

Ask and you shall receive that your joy may be full!

24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. (John 16:24, New King James Version)

Yesterday I posted my Finishing List for 2009 and one line item was to purchase two chairs for the living room.  This would be the THIRD set of chairs I have purchased, but I made a profit on the sale of the other sets, so I'm not feeling too bad about the whole fiasco.  Yes, buying and selling chairs is a fiasco, and I don't want to do it for a living!

Still, I'm not complaining because I made a profit each time, and I am now the owner of the chairs from this ad:              Two (2) Chairs...Must Sell...Make Offer - $40 (West Tulsa)

Here are the pictures at their house, and I'll take some in my house and post them in my next post...

I know they look a little like "what were you thinking" chairs, but really, THEY WORK WITH MY SOFA!  I've had the hardest time finding something tall enough, with the right tone of green to match this yellow/green Lane Westwood Stationary Sofa I purchased a while back.

Now we have a nice little family of married furniture, all from Craigslist, and all for under $275 if you count the profit I made from the other chairs!  Amazing, isn't it?  I heart Craigslist!

All the woodwork in the living room will be changing to Espresso, I believe, so that's what I'll be on the lookout for next! ;-)

The Gospel

 1 LORD, how they have increased who trouble me!
         Many are they who rise up against me.
 2 Many are they who say of me,
         “There is no help for him in God.”  Selah

 3 But You, O LORD, are a shield for me,
         My glory and the One who lifts up my head.
 4 I cried to the LORD with my voice,
         And He heard me from His holy hill.  Selah

 5 I lay down and slept;
         I awoke, for the LORD sustained me.
 6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people
         Who have set themselves against me all around.

 7 Arise, O LORD;
         Save me, O my God!
         For You have struck all my enemies on the cheekbone;
         You have broken the teeth of the ungodly.
 8 Salvation belongs to the LORD.
         Your blessing is upon Your people.  Selah   (Psalm 3, New King James Version)

The Gospel

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.” (Romans 1:16-17, New King James Version)

The Gospel

4 This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says to all those I carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon: 5 "Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce. 6 Marry and have sons and daughters; find wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage, so that they too may have sons and daughters. Increase in number there; do not decrease.

7 Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper."

8 Yes, this is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: "Do not let the prophets and diviners among you deceive you. Do not listen to the dreams you encourage them to have. 9 They are prophesying lies to you in my name. I have not sent them," declares the LORD. 10 This is what the LORD says: "When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my gracious promise to bring you back to this place.

11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back from captivity. [b] I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile."

The Gospel ~ Rest!

15 For thus says the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel:

      “ In returning and rest you shall be saved;
      In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.”
      But you would not,
       16 And you said, “No, for we will flee on horses”—
      Therefore you shall flee!
      And, “We will ride on swift horses”—
      Therefore those who pursue you shall be swift!
       17 One thousand shall flee at the threat of one,
      At the threat of five you shall flee,
      Till you are left as a pole on top of a mountain
      And as a banner on a hill.    18 Therefore the LORD will wait, that He may be gracious to you;
      And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you.
      For the LORD is a God of justice;
      Blessed are all those who wait for Him.
       (Isaiah 30:15-18, New King James Version)

The Gospel

22 I will declare Your name to My brethren;
In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.
23 You who fear the LORD, praise Him!
All you descendants of Jacob, glorify Him,
And fear Him, all you offspring of Israel!
24 For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted;
Nor has He hidden His face from Him;
But when He cried to Him, He heard.
(Psalm 22:22-24, New King James Version)

We are enjoying family time today with a cozy lunch and a movie or two. Here's what we'll be enjoying on this damp, rainy day:

The Gospel

Be Mary today. Sit before the feet of Jesus, and learn from Him:
1 John 5:14 ~ 15

14This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15And if we know that He hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of Him.

That's REALLY good news! Think about it!

The Gospel

Is anything too hard for God?

25 But thus says the LORD: “ Even the
captives of the mighty shall be taken away,
And the prey of the terrible be delivered;
For I will contend with him who contends
with you, And I will save your children.
26 I will feed those who oppress you with their own flesh,
And they shall be drunk with their own blood
as with sweet wine. All flesh shall know
That I, the LORD, am your Savior,
And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of
Jacob.”

Our God is mighty to save!

My nephew was in a car accident on Friday. He was thrown from his vehicle and landed on the pavement in the center of the roadway, on the downhill side of a hill. He could have been killed.

But, God.

He alone has contended with death and he saved that young man. Although he suffered some injuries, they are quickly healing, and he is out of intensive care after less than 24 hours.

No surgery. No long term adverse effects.

Only God has saved this child.
We rejoice in the faithfulness of 0ur God! God's Word is good news.

The Gospel: Just so you know...

...we're not starving! This is today's harvest from my little backyard garden.
"He who does not work, does not eat..." Therefore, he who works will have something to eat!

I've been busy grinding wheat and making Bosch bread, and banana bread, for which I had ingredients in the pantry.

I stocked up on taco seasoning a while back, when the packets were free after a sale/coupon combination. To save on space and to extend the shelf life, I emptied the packets into a quart sized glass jar. When I need this seasoning, I use a premeasured amount that I have marked on the jar. I love the convenience of storing in glass jars, and I reused what I already had, so it didn't cost a thing. Glass extends the life of spices by quite a bit, so I have tried to transfer most of my spices to that type of jar.

Some of the heirloom lemon cucumbers have gone to the neighbors, and some have been cut and combined with vinegar and onions for a yummy side dish for dinner. I picked about 15 today, and there were some on the other side of the fence that I just couldn't reach. I did let the neighbor know to pick all he wanted that were on his side of the fence. This is the same neighbor whose guest kept jumping my fence, so I was glad of an opportunity to bless him in the hopes he would remember me kindly the next time we had an issue...
Tomorrow I need to cook up some garbanzo beans to make a cuke salad with garbanzos.

The Poblano peppers have been cut and measured, and are in the freezer waiting to be used in Tortilla Soup.
