Cold drives us outside...

I know for most families, the cold sends them indoors, but here in Oklahoma, as the temps dip into the 50's at night, we're ready for camping and dinner over the firepit.  Last night was our first taste of the really crisp fall temperatures, and we celebrated by heading outside to the firepit.

Ours is an improvised model, unlike the structure above, but I can dream right?

Here are a few others I'm considering:

This freestanding copper looking model is available at my local Walmart for around $50.  We used this idea for our own, and repurposed a small, black portable circular grill to hold our wood last evening.  It contained the fire very nicely, and in the dark, no one could see the grill anyway.

We laughed, roasted weenies and marshmallows, and just relaxed from a very stressful day.

It's so important to take time for family, and to do things to build memories.  My backyard has become a haven for my family, with hammocks, comfy patio furniture, and now the addition of a fire to draw us to it, and to each other.

It sounds like a lot of fun. I am looking forward some fall weather. It is super hot here. We have used our little weber grill the same way. I dream of buying a fire pit.

That's a great idea. I need to do that when Allison is here.

What a mood boost to think about the beautiful fall weather and enjoying family time outside (now that I won't melt!)
